Terms & Conditions
These are the terms on which Oasis Ruzi Car Dealers Ltd ("we", "us") sells, imports and finances vehicles, and on which you may use this website. Please read them before you pay us any money.
1. Using this website
- You may browse, compare and enquire freely. You must not scrape the site, copy our photographs or listings for your own resale, or attempt to interfere with it.
- If you create an account you are responsible for keeping your password private and for anything done through your account.
- We may suspend an account that is used for fraud, abuse of staff, or to post false information.
2. Vehicle listings are an invitation to treat
A listing on this site is an invitation for you to make an offer — it is not a binding offer by us. A contract comes into existence only when we have accepted your offer in writing and received your deposit or payment in cleared funds.
We try hard to keep listings accurate, but mileage, year, specification and condition are given in good faith and should be verified on inspection. Photographs are of the actual vehicle unless clearly marked as a stock image. Where a listing contains an obvious error — a price missing a digit, for example — we are not bound by it.
3. Prices, currency and taxes
- Prices are shown in the currency you select. Currencies other than our base currency are converted at an indicative rate for your convenience; the contract price is the one stated in your sale agreement.
- Unless the agreement says otherwise, the price excludes registration, insurance, number plates and transfer fees.
- Where we are registered for VAT, VAT is charged at the rate in force and shown separately on your invoice.
- Import duty, clearing and URA charges on an imported vehicle are payable by you unless we have quoted a landed, duty-paid price in writing.
4. Deposits and reservation
A deposit reserves a vehicle and takes it off the market. Because of that:
- A reservation deposit holds the vehicle for 7 days unless we agree otherwise in writing.
- If you complete the purchase, the deposit comes off the price.
- If you withdraw, the deposit may be retained to cover the cost of holding the vehicle. We will tell you before you pay whether a deposit is refundable.
- If we cannot deliver the vehicle, or we accept an offer from someone else, your deposit is refunded in full.
5. Payment and passing of ownership
Ownership of a vehicle does not pass to you until we have received the full price in cleared funds. Risk in the vehicle — damage, loss, theft — passes to you on collection or delivery, whichever is earlier, so you should insure it from that moment.
We accept cash, bank transfer and mobile money. Please pay only into an account we have confirmed to you in writing, and call us on a number you already know to verify account details before sending money. We will never email you new bank details out of the blue.
6. Hire purchase agreements
Where you buy on hire purchase, the following apply in addition to your signed agreement. If there is any conflict, the signed agreement prevails.
- You take possession of the vehicle on payment of the deposit, but ownership stays with us until the final instalment is paid in full.
- Interest is charged at the flat rate shown in your agreement, calculated over the whole term and included in the instalments.
- Instalments are due on the dates in your schedule. Where we operate a late fee it is stated in your agreement, and it is charged once per missed instalment after the grace period.
- You may settle early at any time. We will quote a settlement figure that rebates the interest on months that have not yet run — you will never pay interest for time you did not use.
- You must keep the vehicle insured and roadworthy, and you must not sell, pledge or export it while any money is outstanding.
- If instalments fall materially into arrears we may, subject to Ugandan law and after giving you written notice and a reasonable opportunity to put it right, repossess the vehicle.
7. Imported and in-transit vehicles
- Arrival dates for vehicles in transit are estimates. Shipping, port congestion and clearing are outside our control and a delay is not a breach of contract.
- Where you commission us to import a specific vehicle, your deposit covers costs we commit on your behalf and is generally non-refundable once the vehicle has been purchased at auction or shipped.
- Auction grades and inspection sheets are provided by the exporter. We pass them to you in good faith but do not independently guarantee them.
8. Condition, inspection and warranty
Used vehicles are sold having been used. You are strongly encouraged to inspect the vehicle, take a test drive and, if you wish, have it examined by a mechanic of your choosing before you commit. We will make the vehicle available for that.
- Any warranty we give is set out in writing in your sale agreement. If no written warranty is given, the vehicle is sold as seen.
- A warranty we give does not cover wear and tear, consumables such as tyres, brake pads, clutches and batteries, damage from accident or misuse, or faults arising from work done by someone else.
- Nothing in these terms removes rights you have under Ugandan consumer law that cannot lawfully be excluded.
- Manufacturer warranties, where still valid, are between you and the manufacturer.
9. Trade-ins
- A trade-in valuation is an estimate until we have physically inspected the vehicle and verified its documents.
- You confirm that you own the vehicle outright, that it is not subject to any outstanding finance or caveat, and that it is not stolen.
- If any of that turns out to be untrue you must indemnify us for the loss.
- A valuation may be revised or withdrawn if the vehicle differs materially from your description.
10. Test drives
To take a test drive you must hold a valid driving permit and present it. You are responsible for traffic offences committed during the drive, and for any insurance excess if the vehicle is damaged while in your control.
11. Cancellation and returns
A vehicle is a bespoke, high-value purchase. Once you have taken delivery there is no automatic right to return it because you have changed your mind. This does not affect your rights where a vehicle was misdescribed, or where we have failed to deliver what was agreed — in those cases contact us immediately and we will put it right.
12. Finance applications
Submitting a finance or hire purchase application is not an approval. Approval depends on verification of your identity, income and references, and may involve a bank or finance partner. We may decline an application without giving reasons. Any figures shown by the payment calculator on this site are illustrative estimates only and do not constitute an offer of credit.
13. Our liability
We do not exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. Subject to that:
- we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including loss of profit, loss of use, or the cost of hiring a replacement vehicle;
- our total liability in connection with a vehicle is limited to the price you paid us for it.
14. Things outside our control
We are not in breach of these terms if we are prevented from performing by something genuinely outside our control — including shipping delays, port or customs action, civil unrest, fire, flood, epidemic, or failure of utilities or telecommunications.
15. Complaints
Tell us first — most problems are fixed in a phone call. Write to info@oasisruzi.com or call +256 701581776. We acknowledge within 2 working days and aim to resolve within 14 days.
16. Governing law
These terms, and any dispute arising from them, are governed by the laws of the Republic of Uganda, and the courts of Uganda have jurisdiction.
17. General
- If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
- A delay by us in enforcing a term is not a waiver of it.
- We may update these terms; the version that applies to your purchase is the one in force on the day your agreement was signed.
